In January we visited this cool place being directly situated at the German-Polish border in the meadows of the river Neisse and being called ‘Kulturinsel Einsiedel’.  There you will find the 1st treehouse hotel of Germany and also small summer huts, but on this premise the people also construct and build treehouses for worldwide export.

dsc_0019During our visit we were the only guests in the treehouse hotel while it was quite cold in the night and as well in the early morning around – 10° Celsius. Fortunately there was electrical heating in the treehouse otherwise it would have been not so nice. In summer it will be definitely more crowdy there as an overnight stay in a treehouse means just great fun and adventure especially for children.

For going to the toilet this icy bridge had to be crossed, then downstairs again to normal level and another 150 m walk through the frosty forest, so we refrained from using these facilities during the night. However, we really appreciated our short visit in the woods, the sleep in the treetops and the profound experience of winter in a real borderland.

I like travelling through the diverse realities and cultures of this world not only as a tourist. So this may also happen by simply imaginating the hidden rivers and caves of consciousness where postmodern nomads are crossing wide endless landscapes leading to a dream of no-where. My favourite areas are deserts like the sahara or high mountains, as in these empty terrestric regions the far-away horizon and sky is no limit anymore but a possible gate to inspiration and freedom. Unless otherwise mentioned or individually specified (for example by naming the author, artist, etc.) all texts, photos and/or graphic illustrations in this blog are subject to © urban liaisons (which may please be respected).

    1. Thanks for passing by and the next real town (Görlitz) for other kinds of amusement is not so far away, but due to the ongoing climate change there are really not so many chances to make such photos with real snow in this very Eastern countryside of Germany being situated outside of the mountains.

  1. Ulli, this is an amazing post! Thank you for sharing a bit about the story of this tree house town. Looks fantastic (except for the thing about needing to cross a bridge to go to the bathroom).
Excellent take on Frank’s challenge. Love and blessings to you, Ulli,

    1. In winter you get a discount of ca. 40 % on the normal price due to this winter-comfort, but in summer you cannot make such magical photos instead you will have water in the treehouse for brewing coffee or tea, also a toilet available nearby on tree-level near this bridge. Then expect many people there and a lot of kids. So the winter really allowed a different view to us! All the best @ Ulli

    1. Well for one single night in Winter it was like in a fairy tale and amazing. Fortunately no need to go on toilet at night what would have meant a short walk through the dark and icy forest (around 200 m) down from the tree. A place more for kids of course who will love it!
