EUROPE AT A CROSSROAD

General Franco was buried in 1975 but now it seems that his malicious and evil totalitarian spirit is creeping again especially through the streets of Barcelona but also very obviously in the parliament at Madrid! But you can not save a demogracy with the brutal repressive methods of a police-state as happening actually in Catalonia, while the central government in Madrid has now really created an ugly and bloody battleground. So listen to this video from Catalonia, it is a shame what is going on there actually.

I like travelling through the diverse realities and cultures of this world not only as a tourist. So this may also happen by simply imaginating the hidden rivers and caves of consciousness where postmodern nomads are crossing wide endless landscapes leading to a dream of no-where. My favourite areas are deserts like the sahara or high mountains, as in these empty terrestric regions the far-away horizon and sky is no limit anymore but a possible gate to inspiration and freedom. Posts will be published normally in English, but whenever appropriate also only in my mother tongue German. Unless otherwise mentioned or individually specified (for example by naming the author, artist, etc.) all texts, photos and/or graphic illustrations in this blog are subject to © urban liaisons (which may please be respected).

  1. The 11 states of the Confederacy left the union in 1861. This resulted in the US Civil War with over 600,000 dead and millions wounded. It is estimated that probably very very few families in the country did not have a family member killed which an astonishing toll of death. A country cannot allow its parts to break away. I do admit I do not know all the particulars of the matter in Spain but certainly the government would be forced to take violent measures to protect the country.

    1. Thank you for your comment but your comparison is a bit misleading because in Spain there has been a civil war between Republicans and Fascists in the 30s of the last century, and the result was the dictator Franco who treated the Catalonian people very bad, their language and culture was forbidden, so a similar ignorance now evokes again. If Spain was a Federal State like Mexico or Germany, such things like now would not happen normally.
